Daily Schedule

A typical day in our Nursery group can be briefly described like this:

Early Morning

8:00 – 9:00 am

Students arrive to school. They are welcomed by their teachers and TAs, and encouraged to hang up their coats and change the shoes. They then write their name on the board –at first this is more in the style of mark-making but by the Summer Term most children are able to write their name perfectly clearly.

This is the “Choosing Time”.  The students stay in the Play area and free to choose what they would like to do. A range of activities await the children –these include: role play, sand and water play, the book corner, builder’s workshop, grocery shop, constructing blocks and painting.

9:10 – 9:30 am

Time for morning stretches and Circle time.

Circle time is one of the most important parts of the day in any preschool program. This is also the case at Children of the World. The best part of Circle time is the routine it creates for the students. They know what to expect when the day begins. The teacher introduces a concept first at the Circle time and then reinforces it throughout the day.

Circle time can include name recognition, calendar, colours, shapes, wheather chart, action songs, theme topics, etc.

9:30 am

Time for learning Activities.  The students will be divided into small groups and go on with their activities according to the schedule. Reading and storytelling, literacy and numeracy, as well as science are important parts of the programme each day.

Mid-Morning

10.00 am –Breakfast time

Group Activities go on after the breakfast. Exposure to music and rhythm, opportunity for creative expression builds self-esteem, helps young children to foster a sense of independence.

A special interactive music class with a professional music teacher is offered twice per week. A dance class with a professional dance teacher is offered every week. On Fridays students enjoy a cooking class.

11.30 am - Outside Play

Weather-permitting, the students enjoy outside time at least twice a day, year-round. We have well-equipped playgrounds.

* Our outdoor play areas include an array of slides, swings, climbing structures linked by bridges, a playhouse, and sandbox.
* A football pitch and sports equipment provide ample opportunities for gross motor development and sports.
* A small zoo located within our guarded residential site provides a wonderful opportunity for the children to observe animals very closely throughout the year.

Afternoon

12.30 pm – Lunch for Pre-Nursery and Nursery children
(1 pm – Lunch for Reception and Y 1 and 2 children).

1p.m. – 3p.m. – Nap time for Pre-Nursery and Nursery children.

Group activities go on after lunch and nap time. They include Story time, Science or Theme related activities, Arts and Crafts or PE.

3.15 pm – Hot Snack

3.30 pm – 4.30pm  - Arts and Crafts, PE or Drama time.

A large open carpeted area provides enough room for dance classes, gymnastics, and other physical development activities – as well as an inviting indoor play space on rainy days. The school has wonderful play spaces and a dedicated dramatic play centre helps the students try out different roles.

We always strictly observe day schedules and we find it very beneficial for our students. Once they learn the routine, they will establish an order of events and feel confident.

Please, note that a day schedule may vary for different age groups.
